Dr. Robert Brown was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and raised in Luray, Virginia on a small dairy farm. He attended Virginia Tech and graduated from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1971 along with his wife, Donna, a 1971 graduate in the College of Secondary Education. His interests ranged from tree farming, nature exploration, gardening, and extensive traveling, to offering training in personal development, staff development, and teaching.
One year after graduation, in June 1972, Dr. Brown founded Cherrydale Veterinary Clinic by strongly emphasizing Wellness and Preventative Care, with a practice focus on Geriatric Medicine. With Mrs. Brown as his receptionist, bookkeeper and secretary, it was truly a "Mom-and-Pop" operation.
Dr. Brown has expanded the Cherrydale "family" to include a skilled and dedicated staff which helps realize his vision, providing quality veterinary medicine with compassion and caring, on a daily basis.
For over a quarter of a century, a large part of making our vision of quality veterinary care a reality has been our firm belief in Wellness Care. Wellness care combined regularly scheduled physical and dental care with an emphasis on preventative medicine, including vaccinations, parasite prevention and dental health care.
Our mission statement: To enhance the psychological and emotional well-being of people by helping extend the length and quality of their pets' lives, thereby preserving the human-animal bond.
